Mirrors And Windows
“You open yourself up to what is.”
Like me, there are plenty of things you’ll read today or this week on spring, war, and earth. If you’re lucky, you’ll fall down a rabbit hole within the arms of your favorite book. Between now and then, if you have a few minutes to watch this conversation between Lucille Clifton & Sonia Sanchez at The New School in 2001, I highly suggest it. It is somehow powerful and instantenously joyful. The life in the women and in the room is tangible. The pricks of Lucille’s gray fro, and the depth of the blue in Sonia’s scarf, will swaddle you. You can hear each of them hum between one another’s sentences like an early Sunday morning sermon.
“A poem wants to come, and I’m ready to receive it.”
Hope it will sustain you today as it has sustained me.
Anything you’ve watched or read lately that has sustained you?
With love,
L
