Hi, how are you lately? When I wrote you this letter, I should have been sleeping. Turns out, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to stay up? Ask me tomorrow. This week was the kind of week that was so full. I felt invigorated. Powerful. Clear, even when I wasn’t. That energy left as quickly as it came, and Thursday I napped for two hours as a form of centering. Connecting. Rerouting, maybe?
On the way home from a Broadway show that same night, I thought about the many meals I did not make this summer, but thoroughly enjoyed. I also considered the times I cooked in borrowed traveling kitchens, and the meals I’d like to cook this fall. More importantly, I meditated on the traditions that make meals together so wonderful.
Summer has come and gone. These film photographs by Kelsey were shot before the weight of the heat truly set in. And yet, here they are, as I grab a denim jacket and air conditioners are removed from our ground-floor windows.
In a sense, these photographs, along with the recycled recipe below, is part of the work in looking back and forward with a bit of curiosity and a whole lot of joy. To think of what I thought of then. And to know what I know now, feels like a gift.
In the meantime, sending you an outfit recipe along with a food one (that’s recycled as well). As always, most (if not all) of the pieces I’m wearing had a life before I wore them and the links do as well.
