Hi friends,
We have gracefully exited the beauty of autumn. The orange, red, and green leaves are no longer. The gray skies have taken over, and I was struck with the task of upgrading our winter accessories. But that will wait, as it always does, until after Thanksgiving, a holiday I don’t truly celebrate. Because who wants to celebrate genocide? But I always make the effort to be a really good host, or a really good guest, and thank GOD that I somehow have lived through another year.
This year has felt like ten. So it feels especially important to be with my friends in these coming days, friends who have held River, Oak, and I close. I’ve asked what I can bring (they all know I don’t want to cook!), and they’ve all insisted on ourselves–and maybe wine. That I can do.
In the spirit of growing these letters, I am bringing a new bi-weekly series (it'll run opposite Tiny Thursdays): Recycled Recipes. Recipes and letters alike can be passed down from one generation to the next. And as a person who hopes to carve out special time in a new kitchen on some slower afternoon, making meals to her heart’s desire, recipes feel like salve these days.
