The Yellow Jackets Live Here
"If you don't bump their house, they'll be all right!"
This weekend we celebrated Oak turning 8 and R graduating elementary school with a BBQ, friends, dancing and cake. I am finding my ground at the nearing of a school year, impending summer vacations, moves and feelings. Things are going as they should. I read a poetry book this morning, and looking forward to reading another on the train to the city this afternoon for errands. The little things don’t seem so little.
Quite possibly, that is why I’m sharing this reading from Nikki Giovanni from 2006. I loved her introduction of how the yellow jackets came to call her home their home. And how the human experience of living with things we fear is sometimes shown to us in different seasons of life.
Happy Juneteenth!
Thank you for sharing this!
